I’m a clever, well educated individual, and as with most people reading this, know that in order to reduce weight, I need to consume less calories than I use up, add that to a level of exercise, then not only will I lose weight, but I’ll feel other benefits, such as better sleep, lower stress levels, and maybe even turn into that fun loving, calm, happy person that I really am……..should be simple, but instead I found myself not liking the person I saw in the mirror, so ate more to make me feel better, would be angry with myself for eating more, so would drink more, feel low about that, get more stressed, not sleep because I was stressed, not exercise because I was tired and ‘repeat’, a common story I am sure, of ever decreasing circles.
As a full time working mum of 2, I already have a great support network and wonderful husband, but something else was needed to break this cycle, and yes, that was Richi and Hustle. I’d like to say that there was an interesting fun story associated with meeting Richi, but unfortunately not, a simple wake up one day, need to get out of this rut, “Google”, and here I am.
Weight training!!!! I would never have given it a second thought, let alone actually enjoyed it…..yes, I actually enjoy it, even the 5 minutes of hell commonly referred to as HIIT at the end of session. I’d like to say that it is all down to Richi, but no, the rest of the team add a bit of fun and contrast to the sessions, and it is great working with others in the group PT. Have met some lovely (and fun) people, that do help and encourage you on the way.
And then of course that nutritional advice and weekly check-in’s. Ummmm, I have to state, I am definitely not the ‘star pupil’ here. I have a devil sitting on one shoulder continually pointing out the niceties in wine, chocolate, wine, cakes, wine, sweets, and lots of Costa latte’s. Although these are all still part of my weekly routine, I now have a ‘Small Richi’ (sorry Richi, can’t quite refer to you as an Angel) sitting on that other shoulder, resulting in smaller glasses, and less wine, more granola bars instead of cakes and chocolate, chicken, eggs, greek yogurt, protein, protein, protein, protein.
Since being part of Hustle, my fitness has improved loads, surprising myself with how strong I actually am. I can see and feel more muscle definition, I sleep better, work better, feel better, and yes, even eat better, a lot better :-).
I’m not where I want to be, but am definitely getting there, albeit slowly (would be quicker if I listened to that small Richi sitting on my shoulder 🙂 ), but I’m going at my pace, in my way, not feeling like I am missing out, going without or struggling, and most importantly, I’m having a whole lot of fun on the way.
Well done Hustle, you’ve made a difference to me 🙂
